Are you someone who grinds their teeth and was given a nightguard by their dentist? Having proper care for your nightguard is important. Watch this video by our Calgary dentist Dr. Arash Ravanbakhsh to learn what you should be doing to best care for your nightguards.
Once you get your nightguard, make sure you wear it at night time if you are grinding your teeth in your sleep. It does take a little bit of time to get used to it because it’s a foreign object in your mouth, but a lot of people say that they can’t sleep without their nightguard once they’ve gotten used to it. Give it a chance if it’s not comfortable yet. Talk to your dentist. There are different types that can be made for you.
When you wake up, clean it with a brush under warm water and store it in a case. A well-made nightguard hopefully can last you a good period of time.
In order to keep your nightguard for a long time and reduce your risk of having bacteria growth on it, taking proper care of it is important. If you or someone you love needs more information about taking care of their nightguard, give us a call to set up a consultation.
