Are you or someone you love missing a tooth, or several teeth and looking for solutions to replace them? Dentures may be the solution you are looking for. Let’s face it, missing teeth can be embarrassing and can wreak havoc on our personal and professional relationships. Dentures can provide a long-term solution to restore your function, comfort, and confidence. With dentures, you no longer have to deal with dietary restrictions, and you can confidently eat that steak you’ve been craving!
Dentures also restore your natural smile, and in many cases have the appearance of your natural teeth. There are several different varieties of dentures we provide at Inglewood Family Dental – including partial, full, implant supported, and denture relines. Depending on your goals and the amount of missing teeth you are looking to replace, either option might be right for you.
Full dentures are a removable appliance that fits into your mouth and along your gumline to replace all the missing teeth on your top or bottom gum line. Full dentures are formed to fit your mouth naturally and fitted with artificial teeth to best represent your natural teeth. If you are only replacing the top or the bottom, the denture will be made to match the natural bite of your other teeth. The teeth in the denture are made from a hard resin, while the supporting parts are made out of a similar resin or a flexible polymer material. These are held in place with natural suction or by an oral adhesive.
At Inglewood Family Dental, it is possible to undergo denture treatment and get your new teeth the same day. Immediate dentures help restore your missing teeth and are often used after having your teeth pulled due to decay or periodontal disease, or sometimes due to a dental emergency such as having a tooth knocked out at a sporting event. This allows them to return home with the full function and form of their teeth without having to return for multiple appointments.
Full dentures used in situations when all of the teeth are missing. Full dentures can be immediate or conventional. They are made after the teeth have been removed and all of the gum tissue has started to heal. A conventional denture is ready to be placed anywhere between eight to 12 weeks after all of the teeth have been removed.
Partial dentures are a less invasive and faster option to replacing missing teeth and restoring your natural smile. At Inglewood Family Dental, we offer partial denture solutions for patients with one or more missing teeth! We are also pleased to offer traditional, immediate, partial dentures, as well as denture relines.
A partial denture is a dental appliance typically made of a combination of acrylic and metal, or strictly made from acrylic. The combination partials offer a more durable option when it comes to chewing. Both options attach to your natural teeth with wire clasps or precision attachments. Depending on the health of your surrounding teeth, you may require crowns to help keep the partial denture stabilized and comfortable for eating and chewing.
